Hair Guild Ireland welcomes hairdressers who are looking ot work within the hairdressing department on film & tv
Applicants should have a minimum of 4 years qualification in ladies & gents hairdressing.
HGI will always consider full membership applications solely based on film and television work experience. Applicants are asked to show evidence of relevant experience when determining the appropriate grade within the HGI Guild providing they are able to show certificates or diplomas from relevant courses. It will then be possible to apply for membership and change grades within the guild as the necessary credits allow

The Hair Guild of Ireland is run by and for its members. HGI members vote upon the volunteer candidates for the HGI committee each year at the AGM.
The role of the committee is to:
- Facilitate the smooth running of the guild to ensure it meets its objectives.
- Help foster the positive community within Irish hair departments.
- Produce courses for our members to train and upskill.
- Maintain the high standard of hair departments in Ireland.
- Monitor the ascension of hair artists through the grades in accordance with the competency framework.
- Communicate with Screen Guilds Ireland on behalf of our members.
- Coordinate with other film guilds and SIPTU when necessary.

Screen Guilds of Ireland represents Irish Film and Television Workers across the various Departments within the Irish Film and Television Industry. They currently represent crew across many departments, Accounts, Art, Assistant Directors, Camera, Construction, Continuity, Costume, Facilities, Editing, Grips, Hair, Locations, Make Up, Modelmaking, Production, Props, Prosthetics, Set Decoration, Sound, Special Effects, Stunts, Transport and Visual Effects.

SIPTU is Ireland’s largest trade union and represents the film workers of Ireland. They negotiate our working agreement with Screen Producers Ireland on behalf of Irish crew, and they are the only body with the ability to do so.
By becoming a member your vote will heard in any renewed negotiations over pay and conditions, and SIPTU can advice and represent you in any workplace disputes, if necessary.
